Ah, to read a book… such bliss. Such accomplishment. Watch TV for an evening and feel like a lazy sloth, read a book for hours and feel like a king. In 2 days time I have finished The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. The time it took to read it [...] Over the past several months, well really nearly a year, my blog has become a place for me to complain. Of course, I’ve dealt with some rough stuff in the past year so I won’t beat myself up too much for it…but I look back at some of my old post and I gotta [...] Yesterday, I FINALLY finished the “holiday” book I started around Thanksgiving LAST year, which I wanted to read before I went home for Christmas. The book is Going Home. Its about a 20-something gal who lives & works in London and her interactions when she goes to visit her family in the countryside. [...] I love this book by Foer. Pretty much the same amount that I loved History of Love by his wife, Nicole Krauss. Almost. I think I was more touched by History of Love, but maybe just because I read it first. At the end of both books, I was left with [...] I’m not even sure what to say about this book. I just finished it today. I read through it quickly. I stayed up late to read as much as I could before my eyes fell out onto the pages. It was really an emotional, thoughtful, wonderful book. It was sad [...] Book titles my dears. One I have read, the other I have not and will not. Probably. Last Days of Dogtown by Anita Diamant is the most recent book my book club is reading. It was very surprisingly a good read. I really wasn’t looking forward to it, but half way through [...] |
